Advanced Pole Dancing Techniques

Pole dancing techniques are the real measure of how pole dancers rank in the eyes of the audience. Whether you dance with a pole at your room, a club, or performing in front of judges who might hire you for a pole dancing position, mastering pole dancing tricks and techniques is the only way you will stand out between other pole dancers. After you’ve conditioned your body, lost the extra fat, and now that you’re ready to dance like a pro, you will need to learn a few simple tricks and a few not-so-simple techniques to impress yourself, your audience, or your boss! A few simple techniques ranging from different walking styles, pole dancing moves, and even hairstyles will greatly attract the attention of everyone watching you! And yes, your hair style dances with you, so this will be very important!

Walking Techniques:

Pole dancers generally are concerned with walking according to the dance sequence they are intending to do. For instance, when preparing to hold the pole with your hands and jump lifting yourself up, hold you head up making chin forward and looking straight. Remember, walking is not about “what your legs and feet look like when you make your steps” it is about the facial expression and body language that is brought out through an attitude you impersonate. Although pole dancing moves are a bit more exotic and visually appealing to their audience, notice how belly dancers flow with their whole body impersonating the music that is being played. You may use that technique to develop your ability to impersonate rock and roll type of music bringing out a competitive, confident attitude with your body and facial expression. Your lower body movements and steps will certainly follow what you are thinking of. Try it next time you exersice and see for yourself! By doing this, you have are learning to observe how to bring out the beauty of your body, the strength and harmoney of your dance moves and you are at the same time learning to appreciate other forms of dancing and learning from them! Copying or imitating a walk, even that of a very good pole dancer should not be done by calculation of time and step patterns; simply understanding and impersonting the feeling, facial expression, and attitude when their toes touch the ground will be your key to improving your steps and walking patterns. Again, never underestimate the art of observing a pole dancer’s attitude throughout their dance!

Now that you have learned how to copy a professional pole dancer’s walk without even copying it, you are ready to start exersicing on that pole and bringing out the beauty of your expression through your toes and legs. Remember that pole dancing should never be thought of as a series of moves and technical gestures. It is a feeling and an impersonation of the music and a way of expressing yourself through your body language. To sharpen your skills at those moves, you can also do them at the comfort of your home.
